Anyway, I've been working on this damn car since day 1 and after limping home, I tear into the block and replace the rod bearings. Check out the #4 bearings.

The ones next to it are from #2 which was also knocking. They weren't so bad, but still, I'm amazed at what this engine chewed up on me. I reassemble, start it up, and hear this:
Oddly enough, it's #2 again. #4 is doing just fine. I figured if anything, the condition of the crank surface on #4 was the only bad one, 1-3 were fine. Guess my rod disagrees. The crank is, imho, officially toast.
So, for anyone out there who thinks you can push rod knock for a few hundred more miles or so, yeah maybe, but don't expect her to run right ever again.
