Which tranny is this?
Can anyone identify this tranny? It is non-vlsd but the master cylinder sits on top of the tranny itself.

Also, how do I differentiate a P11 tranny?

That can only be one tranny.

That is a 99 G20 tranny. Nothing special. Now if you take a pic of the back side where the axles go in I can tell you id it is LSD or not.

This is not the strong tranny. The strong tranny is P11 G20T 00-02

How many of those trannys that are next to that one are 5 speed gear boxes.

Thanks Andreas.

I checked for the bulge and it's not there. It's definitely not LSD.

Tell me, which SR tranny would be best for 1/4 mile racing (and street use) ?

std B13 with VLSD (possibly upgrade to nismo lsd?
P11 tranny (not sure if it comes with VLSD - but also possible upgrade to nismo LSD)
B15 tranny
SR18 tranny (if it will fit. Anyone has gear ratios on this one??)

Oh and the P11 question still stands. How do I differentiate it from other hydraulic trannys.

Thanks!

The question is what motor are you running and with what mods

There are so many. Is that a 6 speed tranny? I assumed they were all 5 speed.

Most are B13 type cable/vlsd or hydraulic/non vlsd ones.

No it is a 5 speed 99 G20 tranny nothing special.

Well I am looking for some B13 LSD trannys.

Now if this is a Jap importer the LSD trannys with cable are mostly going to be early G20s that have the longer 3rd, 4th and 5th gears.

Again what motor are you running so I can give you an opinion on tranny for your car.

If you are going to use slick on the track.

1st SR16VE
2nd SR18DE, these have quicker gears than the standard DE

If you are going to mess around on the street.

SR20DE B13

Most of the JDM LSD trannys with SR20DE come from P11s so they have the longest gears. So not the best for 1/4 miles but great gas milage.

Well I do have a non-lsd SR20 tranny (similar to B13) so I could swop out the longer gears for the non-lsd gears.

My other option is to simply get the (expensive) nismo lsd for non-lsd trannys and stick to my b13 gear ratios.
