Thread: Does Lsd cause a slight power loss?

Theoretically speaking an LSD could get away with being weaker since the power is distributed over twice as much area. But I wouldn't count on them being much different since actual driving conditions can be pretty unpredictable.

FWIR, The "loss" is calculated at 18% drivetrain loss, vs. 15% drivetrain loss for NON-LSD drivetrains. About 20% loss for RWD vehicles.

Wow, but the bad thing is, even though you get more power, you can't put it down as easily, so that extra gained WHP along with a quiet a bit few more will be lost in wheel spin

Who cares? My peg leg tranny stood up to an STI even though I had to play catch up until 3rd. LOL

On a serious note the only place it makes a real difference is on the track, or SEVERE weather conditions (ice, snow, mud.... but youll want AWD for that LOL). If you're not going to be a regular track racer then it's no where near worth it.

I like my non LSD on the road courses. At the auto X you would probably want LSD so you dont have to learn to modulate the gas. Once you do learn it though the benefits going from a non LSD to LSD equipped car will be somewhat better.

I agree, I personally don't mind the non-LSD. If this one goes, I will look into a LSD one at that time

What good is theoretical power on a dyno that can't be applied to the road? Also, my 97 SE-R with the lsd drove much better in snow than my wife's Altima.
