Thread: Question... (God help me)

Ok, I'm not new to this site, or the other one for that matter, but my brain has taken a dump today.

Here is the situation: My wife has an auto 99 SE-L. The tranny has been acting up lately, and I'm not really looking forward to buying another one. So her suggestion is to switch it over to a manual. (Which I tried to get her to buy in the first place.)

Now I have searched for a bit, but not sure if I found what I need. Here is what I would LIKE to do, to the extent possible:
I have a 92 SE-R, manual, and was thinking I could swap as much of the stuff over as possible, engine included.

So my main question: am I nuts? (purely retorical ) and is this possible? for some reason I can't quite find what I am looking for in Search.

Your going to need driver side motor mount, a clutch pedal assembly and clutch cable and get ready for some pain your going to have to remove the dash and do some drilling. Also the 92 ser tranny does not have the hole for the flywheel sensor in the bell housing this will cause you to have a check engine light in the 99se-l.

Yes its possible. Whats wrong with the engine itself that you want to swap the engine?

Nothing is really wrong with the engine, other than it being a lowport.

The engine in my SE-R has a couple of things done to it, and I would like to not worry about all the emissions crap on my wifes engine anymore. Plus, it would make it a whole lot easier to just swap it all over in one shot, as compared to pulling the tranny and then having to bolt up a new flywheel, clutch assembly, etc... to the wifes engine.

The electrical is the main thing I am really worried about. especially with the speed sensor. It's probably a lot easier than I am making it in my head, but I would rather be safe than sorry.

Not in general, no, but the '99 was the worst of them all.

LOL you mean 98-99. 99s are the same engines as the 98 se-rs

and the only difference is the cams. take the cams out of your highport and put it in the 99. will make more power than the highport.

lowports > highports.
