Thread: TOB and gauge pod questions

i just did a motor swap and put in a jgy clutch/pp and TOB with a jgy lightweight flywheel also. the TOB was loud as hell with the clutch disengaged. well my motor hydrolocked and broke the fly so i had to put my stock one back in for now. well i had another jgy clutch/pp/TOB that was used and i put all that in and this TOB was loud as hell to. it sounds like sh*t with the clutch disengaged. i've tried adjusting a couple of times to see if it changes with no luck. do they just have crappy TOBs? is there a preferred one to use?

also is there a company that sells 2 hole gauge pods or do you have to get universal ones? i've seen the Lotek ones but they are three hole.

did mention the gauge pod would be for a B13.

use the nissan tob. they can be had cheap on rockauto.com.

alright. pissed i have to pull the trans again for that. going to wait until i get another light weight flywheel before i do. thanks for the input.

Ok for the gauge pod you can make your own very easy by getting a universal. Just take your a pillar off and get a heat gun (can be found cheap at some hardware stores), then just mold the pod to the pillar. I did this with mine and it turned out way better than replacing the whole thing. The fitment is amazing. The pre-molded ones don't seem to fit all that great on the cars I have seen them on.

Also, there are tons of companies out there selling cheapo TOBs. They are bad because they are poorly built off-center and this can cause the TOB to come apart after a while. I had 3 ACT clutches all with the same POS TOB, one exploded!

You can go to Autozone and get one from Timken, just compare the Timken to the one in the clutch kit (1.6 or 2.0 are the same TOB, so either clutch kit should match). Make sure you get a TOB that is the same height, and construction as the one in the kit. I can supply pics of the faulty TOBs if you like.
