Funny. I just replaced my passenger side axle this weekend and it was fine for a couple days (or maybe I didn't notice) but I'm getting a similar ticking mostly when I'm accelerating from a stop or coming to a complete stop.
I though at first it was maybe rotors or the caliper so I took everything apart and reassembled...didn't see anything weird.
When I installed the axle seal, it didn't sit *perfectly* flush so I'm thinking that might have something to do with it.
I'm gonna check it out this weekend.

Describing sounds is very subjective.
It's hard to get it because the sound is very faint thus you can barely pick it up with your ears usually. When I hear it I feel it thought out the car though.
