Short intake manifolds
""List member Kurt Sussman is planning to build, test and manufacture a short runner intake manifold. When running computer simulations with Dynomation’s software, gains of up to 15 hp above 5000 rpm with losses of only 2-3 hp below 3000 were noted. This seems to indicate that Nissan sacrificed lots of top end power to gain a little below when designing the manifold. I noted that Nismo’s race manifold as well as GReddy and JUN’s race manifolds have short runners. The 196hp SR20VVL also has a short runner manifold. As these manifolds are designed for the RWD S13 and S14 chassis, Kurt took it upon himself to design one for the FWD cars. Yeah Kurt!""

I seen that little post in a Mike K article. Did anyone ever use a short intake manifold on a lowport de? Did it really provide those gains?

Dude, the o2 induction manifolds are short runner manifolds. Yes, you will see those gains, if not more.

You could use mine as an "after", but unfortunately I do not have a "before" dyno. I think it's safe to say that the o2 induction manifold is what put me over the 400whp mark to begin with. There's no way that my build would have put anything over 350~360whp with a stock intake manifold from a lowport motor. I would have had to run 16~18psi of boost, I'm thinking.

Of course it's all just speculation

From what I gathered, an o2 induction manifold designed for N/A would net around 8~12whp over a stock intake manifold, on an N/A setup. People were saying that an N1 or GTI-R manifold would net the same, so it would be more cost effective to just install an N1/GTI-R manifold.

Would the ve manifold or gtir fit the low port engine though?
