I disagree sir.

The Fuzion ZR1's were inexpensive. They work great in the rain, A-OK in the dry during spirited street driving, and held up to Roebling Road race course just fine (however, I suck at driving so I was not going uber-fast relatively speaking). Further, on Tire Racks website, they outperformed all the other tires in their price-class except for one (1), and it was quite a bit more expensive.

The AS100's, are no longer available. Those were my last set of tires before the ZR1's, and I like the ZR1's much better. Waaaay better in the rain, no contest. The ZR1's also beat the new replacement for the AS100's in every measurable test.

And the ZR1's were matched against the (new) replacement Yoko's and beat them handily.

When I did my research a while back, the best rain/performance tires I could find were the BFG Traction TAs and Kuhmo SPT. The Toyo T1R is good but pretty expensive, IIRC.

It sounds like most of you guys buy your tires from town fair tire. There is no unique choices here.

Shawn I believe the car tire rack tested them on was a RWD car. I had the ZRi and they did not compare to other tires ive owned. I beat my tires to ****. Poor suckers get heat cycled at the auto x like crazy. The ZRi's hydroplaned on me on I-95 and had too soft of a sidewall for me. So its my opinion only.

The rs2 isn't the best rain tire, take it from someone who lives a rainy state. However if it is going to be dry then yeah they are great.

I would caution against kumho ecsta's though. I have them on my car right now (came with the wheels) and in the dry they are noisy pieces of $#!t. Haven't had a chance to really check out the rain with them though.

Falken ziex are garbage too as far as i'm concerned. Crappy wear, and they don't seem to do anything particularly well.

Yeah, man. We need more info. What are your expectations? What is the climate like where you live? I'd expect you would want a tire that works well in heavy rain.

The 512 is good for an NA car that you don't really care about all-out grip. The 502 is retarded. They need to get rid of that POS tire. Sucks in the dry, and so horrible in the rain. I had these when I was all motor, stock, and they couldn't hold the power. The 512 holds so much better, but a Traction TA would hand its ass to it without any problems.

I had The Yoko ES100's... they were great when they were brand new. But, once they wore even a little... piece of crap tire, especially in the wet. I then had Goodyear FSG3's, which won a shootout a few years ago against some other very good tires. Despite their 195/50/15 size, they were the best tires I've ever had on my car. Gripped extremely well in the dry and were just flat out amazing in the wet. Unfortunately, they stopped making them in the 15" size. Now, I'm using the SPT's. Chose them from reviewing the tirerack tests. They are not super sticky like Azenis, but they're very progressive in the dry and wet... i.e. they let you know what's going on, no sudden break aways. I believe they tested better than the Fuzions and the new Yoko Sports.

My next set of tires, though, will be the new Kumho ultra performance that's replacing the MX model. They just tested them in the latest GRM magazine... blew everything else away.
