Gripped extremely well in the dry and were just flat out amazing in the wet. Unfortunately, they stopped making them in the 15" size. Now, I'm using the SPT's. Chose them from reviewing the tirerack tests. They are not super sticky like Azenis, but they're very progressive in the dry and wet... i.e. they let you know what's going on, no sudden break aways. I believe they tested better than the Fuzions and the new Yoko Sports.

My next set of tires, though, will be the new Kumho ultra performance that's replacing the MX model. They just tested them in the latest GRM magazine... blew everything else away.

Peace,
Mark

Is the replacement for the MX already out? Whats the new model name?

well my goals right now are to spend around $90-100 bucks per tire. I know its not that much but I'm on a budget. Plus the cost of mounting and balance and alignment I'm looking at $600. Freaking insane!

I'm still at a lost for options. I need something really good for daily and rain because hurricane season is upon us again and the weather is picking up. So I have to keep that in mind.

I hve to say, due to choices and opinion and differences in car setups, tires have to be one of the most difficult thing to buy for your car. Getting price/performance is tough.

I had T1R's on my NX and while they are a little pricey, they worked very well. Excellent in the rain and great grip in the dry, at least on the street. No squeeling at anything considered safe on the streets either. They must be rotated for good wear, and are very sensitive to alignment. I wasn't happy with the mileage I got out of them, but that is partially my fault for not rotating and checking alignment closer.

I'm running the newer Ziex 912's on the NX, G20t, and the SE-R now. Excellent in the rain and good grip in the dry. AN outstanding DD tire and at a reasonable price point as well. Extremely comfortable. I don't know how they would be at 8 or 9/10ths driving as I have dedicated track tires for that. They also seem to be showing excellent wear so far. Highly recommended by the entire happynole family of drivers.

Wayne, it's the Kumho Ecsta XS. And the great thing about GRM's tire test... they were tested on a fwd vehicle. Most of the tests we read about are always done on rwd cars. I've always thought that the needs and the dynamics of a tire are different between fwd and rwd cars, to the extent that what is perfect for a rwd does not always translate the same to a fwd.

Tirerack has them for $89 in the 205/50/15 size. Pick up the latest copy of GRM at your local Barnes and Noble and take a look at the test.

I have Azenis rt615 on my G20. Excellent grip in dry of course. In the recent downpours they have been great no hydroplaning or skidding at all like I thought they would.

@05/50/15 on a G20. I think these tire would be more sensitive in the rain in your car since it is a bit lighter.

FYI I had Dunlop DZ101 205/50/15 before, and they perform nowhere near the Azenis. Azenis RT615 > DZ101
