Fire Extinguisher?
Hey,

Since I have installed my fuel pressure gauge, as an extra precaution and probably just good to have I am thinking of buying a small fire extinguisher for those 'just in case' scenarios.

I was wondering, however, if it would be OK in my trunk inside a large plastic container? It could get hot/cold in there and would be taking some abuse from the bumps. I don't want it to explode or leak out.

Anyone got some recommendations/advice? Can I pick this up at Walmart or should I get one specifically designed for being in a car somewhere else?

Thanks!

If you installed the Fpr right I don't see a reason why you need a extinguisher, unless your running track days in 100 degree plus temps. Just buy a gallon of water store it in your trunk and call it a day. It serves double purpose when your thirsty and when your car is on flames. (Hopefully that won't happen though). **** you save up enough you probably could get a super soaker and store it in your trunk then the party will really get started. If you going to put out your cars flames might as well look cool doing it right?.....riggggght?. I knew you would agree.

People keep fire extinguishers and smoke alarms in their house not because they believe something is wired wrong, but because they know there's a chance something COULD go wrong. Same with me. If my car starts on fire, I'd at least like to put out the fire that started, otherwise my entire car will probably burn to the ground.

I keep one in my turbo car just in case. Never had a issue with it being in the trunk.

Make sure you buy a BC rated extinguisher. Also, I'd go with at least a 5 pound size one. 2.5 lbers just don't last long at all. You can find BC extinguishers with vehicle brackets easily, look for Amerex and Buckeye brands. Kidde makes BC extinguishers with vehicle brackets, but I'm not a big fan of plastic-headed extinguishers.

Vehicle brackets for I'm assuming mounting inside the car? Would the extinguisher be safe in a container with other stuff(various oils/fluids) in my trunk?

Don't listen to that crap I was talking I actually knew some one that was driving casually and a battery spark caused the engine to catch fire. He was running hi boost in his gallant Vr-4. So that's really a very good idea to grab one and also wondered the same thing.
