Lowport Nismo AFPR install?
Hey,

This weekend I attempted to install a Nismo AFPR into my lowport B14, but ran into some issues.

One thing I noticed was that the hose coming off the vacuum line may not reach the Nismo AFPR because the AFPR points down. I was wondering for those that have changed to the Nismo AFPR if the old hose fits or if you had to get a longer one. If so, what size is the hose?

Also, how did you get the bolts off? The work space is very limited on the lowport. The best I can think of is using some needle-nose vice grips. Was wondering what size the screws were so I can replace them.

Thanks for the help!

You need to take the top of the intake mani off lol and i hope you have a gauge your installing with it? that alone will extend the hose enough to reach. I didn't have a problem with it. While your at it you might as well to the injectors so i would wait till your ready.

Ya I figured the intake manifold might have to come off to get to it . I want to put the FPR on so I can put my walbro fuel pump in, but maybe I'll just wait to do all of that because it sounds like too much work when I'll be putting a DET in it down the road. I already have a fuel gauge installed, but that doesn't connect to the FPR lines.

I'm talking about the small hose for the vacuum line going from the intake manifold to the FPR.

haha oh just buy a bigger hose hahaha and the Fuel pump is ok to put in now also. Don't need the FPR in for that.

I didnt remove the upper half when i changed the FPR, i just hit it with a chisel to break loose the screw and it came right out.

I don't see what's so hilarious, maybe I missed something. I know I probably need a bigger hose, that's why I asked in my original post what size it was.

Also, I was always under the impression that when a Walbro is installed, an AFPR is necessary because the higher flow of the Walbro can throw off the stock FPR.

Do you remember what size the screws were?

No need to remove the manifold, but you will have to bend the vacuum line or the FPR.

Just don't rotate the top hat so tha the vacuum line clears. You'll surely damage it and will end up with vacuum/fuel leaks. There's a reason everyone is saying that the Nismo units are so sensitive.

As an aside, I'm going to run a different fuel pressure regulator than the Nismo unit, with the help of a fuel rail adapter. Saw one on a Honda fuel rail the other day, and was told that it's universal.

Don't bother with anything that's not for our cars honestly. I would just spend the $40 on a Nismo universal adapter.

They do have a universal one..
