Thread: Wheel Hub / Bearing Replacement Options

Pressed mine in using the Beck Arnold bearings. They held up well for about 2 years but now need replacing again. So stay clear of the Beck Arnold ones (Rock Auto)..

On the front, I also remember replacing seals but cant remember how many?
Whats the actual Front Bearings setup - - - Wheel Bearing + Inner Seal + Outer Seal??

B14's seem to have two seals, diagram at here.

I am in a rush to get new ones, and the shipping is ##@ing expensive. What do you think about hitting up the junkyard? I've read the 1.6 hubs were the same but I seem to think that doesn't make sense unless the axles are the same diameter.

Anyways, I might be able to convince them to let me bring it back for another if it turns out to be bad.

they are the same and the axle is the same diameter but not right for the trans.

There's an inner and outer seal. Make sure you remember the c clip, I forgot about it and started cursing when I couldn't get the hub off of the spindle

Ok more dumb questions. I've decided just to get a new hub and bearing separate and get it over with .

Does anyone know of a cheaper place to get hubs than this? I can't find any.

Furthermore, why do some of these bearings look thinner, and say "inner" or something of the sort on them. Such as the timken and nsk ones.

Actually, I Just made the part number list for reference. This site is amazing! Line it up with the FSM for reference and you can find pretty much any exact part!

This list of parts is $207 shipped from courtesy and $194 from mynissanparts. Unless I can use one of the cheaper bearings this seems about as cheap as it can be done. I believe this includes all necessary parts. (Not sure wtf assy means versus just bearing, that it includes races? The regular bearings look like the do too though???)

Using the following wheel bearing instead of the OEM specified one would make the total $184 using courtesy for the everything but the bearing. Not a huge difference. Paying shipping for bearing from some place else makes it not worth it?

I did the fronts myself, and ordered the rears from gregv.

Did you use the "Bearing Assembly" or did you just say order the timken bearing. I'm still unclear on what the difference is between them since the "Bearings" seem to include races..???

Just ripped apart the old bearing. Will shoot some pics soon of the destruction. Still can't get the fooking outer race out of the knuckle. That might require an actual press =/ the hammer couldn't move it at all period.

Wow, I had no idea these bearings had plastic ball races =o That doesn't seem so good!!
