Wheel Hub / Bearing Replacement Options
Ok guys, just looking for some opinions here.

I found this complete hub assy for the B13 SER for only $50 with Timken bearings. These look to be complete sets, not just the hubs.

However, I do have access to a press, but I have never tried pressing before, and I am 90% sure I will need a new hub anyways since I've been driving with a bad bearing for months on months (lucky something hasn't gone wrong already. It's even louder on the highway than my empty can exhaust :o).

Is this worth getting? Or should I try to pick up a hub separate and bearings and attempt to press it myself? I think it would be cheaper to go with the assy and certainly a lot easier. Also not quite sure how to pressing must be done.

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure you can't get the rear bearings by themselves. I tried.
Greg sold me rear hubs + bearings and I went with the Timken units because the OEM would have taken longer to arrive, and were quite expensive. I'm very happy with the Timken bearings and have since got new Timken for the front as well.

Give Greg a call and see if he can match that price.

Whoop, I meant to find the front hubs. I did not even realize the only had rears!

Do you suppose these come with bearings pre-pressed? I might have to contact them and find out but since it is an assembly it seems like it.

I got my rears at Napa, they were $50 each, not bad in quality too. For rears you don't need a press hehe.

As for fronts, not sure, but will be replacing mine soon. Once again I will probably go with a $20 ones from Napa haha

Just make sure you dont do what I did and drive your hubs into oblivion. I think there is no way it can still be good judging by how long it's been and how loud .

i'll say on first classic i had the rears were making noise for probally 3 months including a bunch of "canyon"runs and the hubs were still fine. i really depends on how loose the assembly is on the bearing.

Well, it is the front passenger not rear. And it screams like a roller coaster. =D

Probably going to pick up a front assembly, then play with the old one and figure out how to swap only the bearing for future reference.

I've replaced my fronts with OEM bearings (kept the old hubs) in the past. Next time around I will pay half price for Timken bearings. $33 versus $60 or so.

I think it's a toss up about the hubs. They might need replacing, they might not. =/

Yeah, I figure if it turns out they don't then I will just pick up an extra bearing and have a spare one for next time. =) Just can't afford to have the car down for days while I decide whether to get one haha.

I replace both front with timken bearings. I coudn't find a pre-assembled front set so I pressed everything in myself.

It's all very simple and as long as you buy everything you'll be set.

Make sure u purchase the inner and outer seals as well. they will most likely break or bend upon u taking them out for replacement.
