That actually makes sense to, maybe to keep oil from getting sucked into the PCV valve...

All 3 of my motors had it on the exhaust cam.

It was designed to stop oil from splashing out if you ever open up the oil cap while the motor is running.

I remove them from every car that I do cams on.


Yea sorry but your wrong for once actually. Although it would make sense to move it to the intake side for that reason. The 3 heads sitting in my garage plus the one on my car have it on the exhaust side in the same place the pictures show. I've always wondered what the purpose of it is. Guess there isn't one if there are no effects when you remove it to install cams.

I never said the motors dont all come like that.

All the SR20DE and DET motors do come like that it was an error right from Nissan.

Now when you look at other motors in the Nissan Family that have that same thing you will find it right under the oil cap.

my det came the same way like on da pic. how do u figure it was a mistake. dont u think they would have fixed that after all the years of making the motor

mine isnt by oil cap.
