Thread: Towing with my sentra

Hey guys, the manual says 1000lb towing capacity, but I was wondering if it's possible (we live in flat flat saskatchewan) if I'm not going up any hills or even braking all that much for that matter, would I be able to tow a small 6' tent trailer with my wife's 01' sentra se (auto)? I mean, I can pick up a 5th wheel by the hitch and move it myself, how much more difficult would it be for a vehicle?

I think the towing ratings are for safety. Your stopping distance is increased dramatically, and loads on the engine. There should be a tongue weight as well that you have to watch out for.

I towed a b14 SE-r that i bought a few yrs ago with my old NX that had a dead clutch for about 20 miles Hills starts inlcuded,just keep the car in 3rd (auto) you should be fine.

Throw a turbo on that sentra and a big brake kit. Then you will be good to go for sure.

I have decided to get a 6 cyl car or a 1/4 ton truck - too much risk on the auto sentra stock. For a guy to buy a hitch, buy the trailer, and ruin his car -it's too much risk. we're not talking 20 miles here, we're talking 200-300km's each way.
