Thread: Common cause of door sagging on B13's?

So i will be going to fix some door jam rust on my b13, but my doors are sagging and i would like to fix it at the same time as my rust, since i will already be in there.


Now my ??? is, what causes the sag? Are my hinges no good?

Greg V has replacement door hinges for cheap, but i don't want to spend $$$$ if that won't fix it?

in some cases allot of weight on door while it is open can cause it to droop.

There are plastic isolators/bearings in the door hinges. These deteriorate with age and cause the doors to sag. New door hinges will solve the problem. You can confirm this by lifting up on the door and watching the hinges. If you see play in the hinges, they are the culprit.

It's from fat people hanging on the door while they try to get their fat ass in the car. j/k The doors are heavy. Old Chevys, the doors would literally fall off. Eh, maybe they still do it.

Also, all the weight from the seatbelt assembly in the doors doesn't help it either. I'm doing the B-pillar mod as soon as I possibly can. That crap just isn't safe.

This is one of the major reasons above.

One of the other reasons is when people leave the door open and others or owner lean on the door while talking. So many people do this and they do it without even thinking about it.

The cause is gravity. There's no mystery.

The fix is new hinges. This is a common problem. Of the three SE-Rs I had, I had to replace the driver's door hinges on two of them.

I agree to disagree. Gravity is a small point.

I have owned a few SERs and NX2000 and never had door sag. I dont lean on my door when it is open and as I see someone going to do it I tell them not to even try it.
