Sentra Seatbelts
Hey, well I started a new thread to tell you about my sentra and its nightmarish problems. Its the limited edition '94(B13) sedan so it has the automatic seatbelts. But first i have to tell you my other problems. I bought the car for 1300 and it was pretty used, smoke holes in the seats and what not.first the fuel pump and filter were replaced. Spark plugs next. Then the tranny and axles. Couple dents but not bad cosmetically besides a little bit of rust and some scratched paint. ( I live in Alaska so the conditions are not very good for cars) Anyways the passenger seatbelt is out of whack, doesn't work at all, and i tried replacing the motor which was same model and everything. The seatbelt still doesn't do anything when the doors are closed and opened. So I'd like to but an aftermarket three point seatbelt and I need some advice. The how much, the how to install, why I shouldn't etc.

And my car has a second problem:
This one is far worse, but I have no clue. Not long after tranny and axles were replaced my car started act up in that when its running but not being accelerated, most noticeably in drive (instead of neutral or park), the car shakes pretty bad and the exhaust is pretty loud. My muffler shake pretty terribly but i can't put together the problem.
And if you don't know its an automatic. I do hope to get some pictures up. Eventually when I get a job (im in school currently) i plan to spend some money on fixing it up both cosmetically and physically and I will likely do some engine work.

Any help or comments would be appreciated,
Taylor M

You can do the B14 seat belts. Search a little bit and i think there is a write up somewhere. Easier and probably cheaper than an aftermarket harness.

it does not matter who you got the car from. its a law that they have to replace seat belts that are faulty from what i remember. the car that i got was not mine neither

Yessir. That was gonna be my advice. Except you beat me to it, however, I am providing a link.

That should fix your stupid seatbelt problem. I am an Original Owner, and those seatbelts sucked from day one (1). For sixteen (16) years they sucked, they are now gone. Good riddance.

a) The original OEM electric-mouse, or "semi-auto, always on" belts were a sh*tty USA-only government safety requirement. In Canada, Mexico, and Japan, the belts always were located on the B-pillar.

b) That big hunk of metal, the seatbelt mount point on the door itself, right next to your left ear (or right ear if you are a passenger) is completely unsafe. With your seat at the farthest travel to the rear, in a side-impact collision, your head is going to whip back and forth from side to side. And if your noggin hits the side glass, your noggin wins. You might have a concussion or some cuts, but your skull stays intact. However, if your cranium impacts a triangular-shaped hunk of steel bolted firmly to the door frame, your skull will break open like a cantaloup.

c) Speaking of side impact collisions. Assuming your skull does not impact that stupid seatbelt retainer hunk-of-metal, what if a door pops open in a side impact collision? Uh...yeah...you are no longer wearing a seatbelt because the mount point is on the damn door. Which is now open. Instead, you are thrown out of the vehicle to see which is stronger, the asphalt or your squishy human body.

You can do what you want. Messing with (stupidly engineered) Government-mandated safety requirements is "at your own risk" and you sir, are an adult who can make up your own mind.

I made my decision in favor of the B14 belts, properly mounted on the B-pillar where the seatbelt belongs.

The only thing I can think of that *may be* wrong on your vehicle causing the shaking is the motor mounts.

You've stated, it does not happen in nuetral or park. It only happens when sitting while in drive.

Under acceleration the motor/tranny would be under load, therefore at the limits of the possible motor/tranny movement due to torque being applied. Therefore, no shaking.

Check the motor/tranny mounts and see if the shaking is due to shot OEM mounts.

Best of luck to you, welcome to the forum.

Thank you much for the help. I plan to bring it to the Nissan dealer in Anchorage and see if they will fix it. The write up will help if the dealer won't do it.
I also plan to check the mounts cause that is a problem that needs to get fixed.
Thanks again
