Brake Issue
Tonight I installed some new rotors and pads on my car. Napa rotors and Axxis Pads. I have NX2k Brakes on my car. Well I had an issue with the driver side bracket. Holes stripped out had to tap and put helicoils in. So I go to drive home and brake the pads in. I go from 30-0 and they mush down which is fine. 2nd time and they lock like a champ third time and the pedal starts bouncing up and down. Start going again from 50 or so to 0 slowly and the pedal is just bouncing like a mad man almost bumping my foot off the pedal. So I have no idea what is going on. Can't be warped rotors cuz there brand new.

Anyone got any ideas?

Yeah show me where. You can't buy just that bracket.... I've tried. And Calipers are brand new from last year.....

If it is that is what's wrong then I'll just drill the holes out and tap it a bigger size.

yeah, that sucks. That bracket is nearly impossible to find. Every frickin NX2K that ever hit a junkyard has been stripped of its front brake assemblies. I have personally installed rotors from Napa that came out of the box warped. an easy way to test them is to put the car up on jacks, pull the wheels. Start the car, put it in 5th gear and let the wheels spin. You take a pencil and bring it up to the rotor. As soon as it touches you hold it still. If it's warped you'll get a mark where it bulges towards you and no mark where it pushes away. I know those cheap rotors come warped. I'd probably pull them off. I found a while back that NOPI carries brembo blanks for super cheap. You'd appreciate having better rotors.

I've never had a problem with there rotors before. And there is no way that they are that warped that they can make the pedal come up that hard.

Hmm, I see what you're saying, that the pedal was coming up much harder than rotor warpage would cause, huh? That would be strange.

Yeah it's pretty bad lol I'm thinking the bracket came loose. I have no idea what else it could be. Maybe the lines need bleed for some reason? I didn't take any calipers out though :/

yeah, I'd agree with you there, something must have given out. It never hurts to bleed your lines, but that usually doesn't cause pulsing, just mushiness. pulsing has to be from the interface between the rotor and the caliper, so it has to be warpage or other hardware failure. I've heard of some occasions where a guy uses a bolt to push the rotor off the hub and then forgets to take it out, which keeps the rotor pushed waaaaay out of place, lol. Obviously that's not your problem, but it could be something like that. You will probably be able to tell just by looking at it if the bracket is coming out or the rotor's not on flush or something.
