Sounds like a box of rocks?!
I have had a couple of issues with my car lately and have been trying to diagnose them. The most pressing issue is a front main seal which I'll do this weekend. The other issue is a "box of rocks" sound that is getting worse. Much louder in the cabin then outside in the engine bay. I've realized that it only happens now when I depress the clutch or have the car out of gear. I'm obviously thinking it's a clutch issue although the 6-puck I have in there is functioning very well. Anybody have experience with this?

the disk is falling apart or the tob would be my guess.

Only 8k and I'm going to have to yank the tranny again! Ugh, not okay. This time I'll go with an oem TOB if it turns out that's the problem! Thanks for the reply.

That Noise Will Never Go Away... Unless U Get New Tranny Or Tighter Cable

Hydraulic tranny so no cable. Totally new tranny sounds like overkill though. Maybe a lil ol' tob is just what the doctor ordered. Here's hoping...

Don't forget to order the little clips for the tob. Sounds like tob to me but it could still be the disc or something else. Make sure before you tear that thing off.

It is the bearing inside the tranny on the main shaft. This happens alot.

I was thinking it could be a bearing internal to the transmission as well. Does the noise "wind down" when you press in the clutch pedal while at rest? That's what mine started doing (not as bad as your noise it seems) a couple months ago.

I went ahead and replaced all four of the shaft bearings inside the transmission "while I was in there". (I know I'm a little loopy for having done this.)

Input shaft bearing it could be.
