Thread: Help with Steering rack bushing install.

How the F*&^ do you put in the drivers side bushing?. I have the bushing installed now the bracket does not want to bolt up. Seriously thinking of using the stock bushing again. I'm about to snap from all these problems man!! There is no write ups no info on this? No directions on the Energy suspention site to why its not going in.

i just did mine a few weeks ago. i used a 6" c clamp and squeezed them together enough till i got the bolts threaded on.

I take it that your tranny was out because there is no where to put a 6 inch c clap with it there.

It is a lot easier to put them in the the motor and tranny out. Thats when i did mine and there was no issues. I am trying to remember if i had any troubles getting them in but i dont think so. Can you get one bolt started then push like hell and get the second one in? Is the bushing too long? See if you need to trim a tad off. If all else fails, Just use lots of lube and push like hell.

Its a mofo...I did it last week.
I found that it has to be on just right(it is teardrop shaped)
Spray it with windex,or soapy water first.Get it situated,then snug up the pass side.That will help keep it in the right vicinity.
You do need to squeeze it or pry on it to get the bushing seated in the groove or it will never go on.I used a prypar and channel lock pliers.
Then just keep trying to get that top bolt started on the drivers side.I fought it for a while,was about to give up....I flipped the bracket over and it went on first try.
Once you get the top one started,then start the lower one before tightening the top bolt.

It is not fun,but I have done it 3 times,and it will work....Patience,Daniel-Son

Yep, What Eggman said. That's the way I had to do it. It was a real PITA. Briefly considered yanking the motor at one point....

One more suggestion...
When you finally get it on there,I find that it helps to throw the old part on the ground and yell profanities at it.
