Thread: Rocker Arm Stoppers

Will any rocker arm stoppers for an SR20 engine fit an Autech engine (SR20DE)? they all seem to say they are for DET's but would they be alrite?

I don't know your specific answer.

However, are you sure you want to use RAS? Per many smart folks on the forum(s), RAS are a "fuse" of sorts. They blow/break/fly-off instead of you damaging expensive internal engine parts.

Just a heads up, Andreas is a genius with our engines.

I have broke many rocker arms and do wish I had RAS's in my last motor which had bc3's w/ s&r's. The ras's might have saved my motor.........

But it does seem like most people with ALOT of sr20 knowledge say they are not good, so I would say no.

comes down to whats more costly. replacing the broken rocker or replacing the bottom end and head because your valve hit your piston. now if your head is built up and your reving it over 8500 on a reg basis then the RAS might help out. same if you like to bounce off the rev limiter.

yep they are correct, unless you have a built up head and are reving to 9k they are useless.

As per andreas he doesnt recommend using them at all. Again its much better to just throw the rocker and shatter it then to float the valve or have it stay in place on the lifter but fall of the spring perches and bend the valve open because it gets lodged in there.

A good setup for higher revs would be

RR hydraulic lifters
BC springs and titanium retainers
do a two grooved shim setup on the rocker

This is good for 9k easily with a good oil pump to back it up. It will keep the rockers in place with the two grooved shims and the rr hydraulic lifters will pretty much keep as much tension as possible on the rocker to the cam and a vvl or gtir pump is pretty much a must if you want it to be reliable at those levels. It will also help keep good tension on the lifters.

pish posh, I ran them, but never had a mishap to test them out. I have two brand new sets never installed, Greddy, for sale if the thread starter is looking for a set. I have a third set installed in the NX.

only run them if you have upgraded springs and retainers. If you run them with out s/r and you pop a rocker arm it will damage the cams. I know because I blew off three rockers arms with ras on and one on the intake side got crushed. I ended up cleaning metal out of the haed and grinding and polishing my s4 cams.
