Doesn't sound bad at all, a little different from what it sounds on a turbo, but still sounds good.

You can remove that heat shield and try to bend the hangers to hang it higher, that's what I did. I do need to readjust mine, and cut the tip off!

I'm curious to see how it sounds with a VE!

I think I'm going to leave it as is for now and see how it goes. If it doesn't scrape, then I'll just leave the heat shield and keep it this height. I've got enough things to work on at the moment on my car!

I think it will sound the same on VE, until the high cams hit, then it should sound pretty sweet

Just an FYI for those looking for a quiet exhaust, the stock replacement Bosal catback from Napa works great....bolt on affair, excellent fitment, tail pipe placement is dead center, nothing hanging out of place. I went with a stainless tip from Poop Boys to give it a finished look. All told I think I spend about $275. HP wise I can't tell the difference from the 2.5" VRS....I'm sure there is few ponies being lost but it's worth it to me not pissing off the neighbors.

I use a S2000/RSX muffler. 10x quieter than the ricer OBX exhaust that the car had when i bought it

Seriously 4" resonator Magnaflow, and if you want one of the most quiet performance mufflers I have ever seen, grab a Borla catback with the stainless "intercooled round exhaust tip". I have nearly identical setups on two cars until you get to the muffler, one with the Borla is significantly quieter. The tip you put on will make a difference. It's like the end of a trumpet, change the tip size and shape, it will sound different. A good resonator is a must to cancel harsh chainsaw frequency sounds. 4" with 2.5 inlet/outlet pipes cancel out most of the nasty sound.

"Crap I ordered the 4" DIAMETER tip not 4" long and man is this loud (but not raspy) under WOT" - I don't recommend this if you're trying to fly under the radar - it rumbles under normal use then reminds of half a 1960's Muscle car V8 under WOT - loud, but not nasty loud. VRS 2.5 or 2.75" cat-back stainless with Magna resonator and perf-core muffler:





All 3 use magnaflow HFC's, resonators, and mufflers. Pretty much the same resonator:

OBX is the original knock-off Ricer Fart Can, I hate those things. The make a B13/B14 sound like a Civic on a bad day. I think they were copying HKS but they missed the point somewhere.

Magnaflow has such a tried and true design, I can't believe how convoluted and prone to breakage those OEM Subie mufflers look. The perf core Magna has no extra pipes or baffles to break, straight through one-piece core - and in stainless will last a very, very long time - I have three cars with this same muffler, and it's not that expensive if you buy the pieces and do it custom.

MagnaFlow FTW! I will never buy another muffler. I had one on my old red NX with stock exhaust (minus the cat) and it sounded beautiful. Then I put a FlowMaster Super 40 on my Sapphire Blue NX and was not too impressed, it sounded alright in the low-range, but it did drone on the highway a bit.

Since I just finished my turbo build a couple weeks ago I installed another MagnaFlow on the blue car, and it sounds absolutely amazing. 3" exhaust all the way back with nothing else. Eventually I may add a resonator or two, but it doesn't drone too badly, it's quieter than the Super40 with a resonator. I highly recommend MagnaFlow to anybody looking for a good sounding muffler - hands down.
