Thread: Brake pad Battle!!!! Axxis V.S Hawk

i had the axxis ultimates on my ad22s and they stopped great but dusted like crazy and the hps pads i have now stop just as well, short of any actual testing for distance, but dont dust hardly at all.

Shampoo is better.

wth i bought axxis cuz i could find Hawk pads for NX calipers.

I think I read somewhere the 2nd gen eclipse/talon pads work?

So YEA.... while I was banned.... I took the liberty to install the (Hawk hps) brake pads/rotors that I bought few weeks ago and they are fricking awesome!!!!! This is the perfect braking I was looking for. Thank you for everyone that took time out of your days to vote and help the brother out. Maybe in 25000 miles I'll try the Axxis ultimates. The install went pritty smooth other than finding 2 frozen calaper pins that took a hour for 1 to remove and the other one snapped on me and I had to buy a refurbished caliper bracket but other than that it went pritty smooth. I did get in contact with Hawk customer service through email an expressed my dissapointment with them as there is no rear pad options, They told me they submitted the idea and they may be option for the rear pads hopefully soon. I honestly don't think it will happen though.

I currently have Axxis and they are alright. They squeak quiet a bit. Hawks are going in next brake change.

ive heard higher performance brake pads have some squeakiness to them or louder than regular brake pads but i would deal with it for the added performance

Just to add my $.02, I had the axxis metal masters, and although they were great on the street and decent for AutoX, they were not up to track use, and I cooked the pads (cooked, as in when I pulled the calipers, the pads were actually disintegrating, and had the feel of asbestos, they were so soft). Bear in mind the metal masters are not billed as being appropriate for track use, and I was using the lower weight of the NX to harrass M3's on the track by diving deeper into the braking zones, not to mention the track I was on is known as a brake breaker

I noticed no squeakiness yet with these Hawk hps pads, not even a sound as a pin drop, Just pure quiet hard braking which is awesome because they are not even fully broken in yet. Maybe if your referring to pure carbon brake pads I have no experience with those though.

correct, that's what I did.

Do the Hawk pads & new rotors take a while to break in? I upgraded to AD22 brakes and Hawk pads last week and I don't see much difference over my stock setup. Maybe I was expecting too much from the upgrade. It seems every other car I drive, even a company van seems to have better braking.
