Thread: car won't start

ok so, my car has trouble starting. When I turn the key, I hear a grating noise from the starter. I thought the problem was the starter, so I replaced it. But I'm still having the problem. I tried to turn the motor by hand, but was unable to - it seems like the motor was seized. Then I tried to spin the wheels, the wheels turn freely. So I tried to turn the motor by hand again, and this time I'm able to turn the motor by hand.

Has anyone ever experienced anything like this?
