sounds like its running on 3 cylinders. check your plugs, wires, cap and rotor. you'll have spark blowout under heavy load conditions (ex WOT at low RPM) with bad ignition parts. sounds like it clears up a bit above 3k or so.

sometimes it clears above 3k, but sometimes runs like sh1t until 6k.

im going to check sparks

also check your wires. they can look fine, but as cylinder resistance increases (high load) the spark is going to take the past of least resistance. which in this case is somewhere other than the spark plug. is there white powdery residue anywhere along your wires?

Sounds like you are down a cylinder to me.
