Lost my smooth funky classic....
Well cats after much work and money spent on my '93 SE-R it threw a rod and caught on fire melting everything not made out of metal in the engine bay. I knew that the engine was going to blowup someday sooner or later and thoughts of a VVL replacement from Master Miko was in the future but the fire ruined that next step in the evolution of my baby. This car was perfect, with no rust or stripped interior. I'll post the carnage as soon as I get over the grief in a few days....

Now I need to find another SE-R. I'll be haunting the classifieds for the right replacement soon. Now I'm stuck driving either my Titan or my wife's Pathy, both suck on gas. I miss my classic so bad I'm going through withdraws. Time to save some mula...

Chit! Sorry to hear, but at least you weren't injured. What happened? Do you know what contributed to it catching fire?

As far as I could tell after it started knocking while going down the highway smoke started to come through the vents so I pulled over and notice oil dripping on the ground. I didn't open the hood. A few minutes later the front of the hood by the header started to get dark and smoke started to get thicker. I assume hot oil and a hot header caused the fire.

I would think its still saveable right? maybe run a new harness, plop another bad boy in there... repaint - come back fresher than ever, and have your car have some deep history? Am I being too optimistic? :o..

will you pm me pics of the aftermath?
