I have STILLEN / Brake Pros pads on front and back and they seem pretty good

Through the years I've used 2 sets of Green Stuff pads on my B13 with OEM brakes (no NX2000 upgrade). During the early years I was operating under the delusion that I could run stock brakes at Summit Point for HPDEs. I finally saw the light when my right front wheel well burst into flames and upgraded.

Nonetheless, I still think that the Green Stuff pads are OK for daily driving. They have a nice bite from the higher coefficient of friction, don't dust too much for a HP pad, and give tens of thousands of miles of service. Here's the rub: EBC does not list an application for the SE-R fronts. However, they make a pad (DP2665) that fits fine. I confirmed this by tracing my stock pad on a piece of paper and sending it via FAX to a guy at an EBC distributor. When the pads arrived, they fit in the calipers and I got good service from them until I melted them on a race track.

They do develop a waiver-thin lip because they need a caliper that is slightly larger in diameter, but this just falls off and causes no real issues.

Bottom line, if this is what you are looking for in a brake pad, then Green Stuff works for dd.

Your right front wheel caught on fire? How does that process happen? What's combustable in that area?

Combustible and flammable are two different things. Brake pads can catch on fire if they are exposed to extreme heat from hard braking and inadequate cooling.

My brake pads basically melted and the heat allowed the backing plate to deform which caused the caliper piston to move far enough down the bore of the caliper to release brake fluid onto the extremely hot disc. The result was flames and smoke shooting from my wheel well and substantial loss of braking as I was entering a high speed turn on the Jefferson Circuit at Summit Point Raceway. After a very tender late apex and a cool down lap, the wheel well burst into flames again as I pulled into my parking space in the pits and depressed the brake pedal.

After it cooled down, a fellow driver gave me a pair of vice grips which we used to pinch the brake line. Then we bled the brakes and I drove home with brakes on 3 wheels.

Lots of fun for everybody. I got NX 2000 brakes shortly thereafter. Never had a braking issue again.
