make sure you have good source voltage

my g/f's G20 is an auto a few mnths ago the tranny would stay in 4th gear all the time, well her battery was bad not giving enough volts to the tcm.


changed the battery and it was shifting fine

Nope. Some are all electric and dont have a kickdown..

Take it to a tranny shop and have it diagnosed. Sounds like a Kickdown cable problem.
Most of those places have service sales this time of year.

ok so i bought new battery terminals to fix my loose connection
and now the car shifts fine ????

they dont all have kickdowns. i have had both types of auto trannys in my shop.. then again we are talking about a 1.6 right? i know the auto 2.0 have kickdowns and electric. not to sure about the 1.6 trannys. i know the one i do have has a kickdown

my 91 had both, my 93 has both

yes 2.0s had both too.. Kickdown & all electronic trannys. Ive installed both... hehe

Glad to hear that you fixed your problem with a simple fix...
Good to know that the tranny will act up without the proper power..
Guess I cant install that thousand watt amp...

When you find the HIDDEN TCU, let me know.

i'm assuming the tcu is part of the airbag computer in this car
