regrounded maf, fried ECU and 2 mafs??
so I got the bright idea to reground the maf on my b13. I cut the middle wire(white one) and grounded it to the intake manifold. Got in to start car up and it would not start. I switch out another maf and nothing again. I put everything back to before i tried regrounding it. So i tried another ecu and it started right up. Now i cant rev above 2500rpm. I dont understand why if i grounded it to the place it was suppost to be (intake manifold) that this happened?

Going to try another maf, hoping that the maf is bad, and pray that it is still not the ecu?

any ideas?

well, FWIW i had regrounded my MAF before and same sh!t happened to me, but my problem was i had a boost leak from before regrounding. I would say check what your voltages are at the MAF pigtail

^WTF!...is the grey shield that covers these wires also connected to the ecu. It is very wierd but when the touching the braided shieild around these wires the idle changes.

it is the shield. dont mess with that. if that gets a voltage it will corrupt your maf signal to the ecu and lead to funky maf voltages hence the no start and then safe mode.

You have the battery disconnected while you're doing this, correct?

no need to stress it...i already know it was a dumb move. i just thought that this was something that could only help, not hurt my car. go search regrounding maf and all you see is glory threads and how much it helps. and i usually search my a$$ off before doing anything to mycar.
