STI muffler is not straight through, but I personally didn't feel too much of a power loss over no muffler.

It's simply as loud as stock while driving. I can only hear the turbo swisssssssssssssssssssssssss and the intake a bit up top.

Turbo's cut back on the raspyness, but not really on the loudness. Even NA STI Muffler with a good magnaflow resonator will sound sweet

I own a p11 so no eclipse or fujitsubo exhaust for me, shucks.

The really bad part about the p11 is that the muffler is dual offset, but offeset on the same side. IE the inlet and the outlet are on the drivers side of the muffler.

I think that no matter what mufflers you use, there will always be a "drone", you can never eliminate the "drone", even resonators cant eliminate it. One thing you can do though, according to experts "by reducing the length of the 2.5" system you move the "drone" to a different rpm range. Plus when you add the 3.0" tail pipes you added a chamber that defuses the noise a little more". This will give your car just the right rumble.

This is far from truth. I have a 2.5" turbo back to a 2.5" STI muffler, 0 drone, can't even hear the muffler from inside the car. Last Saturday I had my buddy move up my car as I stood there and listened, and it was all that quiet, sounded amazing though

What nobody really talks about and something that I feel is important is the use of a tailpipe. Many mufflers out there will sound significantly different if a tailpipe is used. Many of them, such as the mufflers shown in the previous posts, are designed to be used with a tailpipe. I have a flowmaster 60 series (the quitest one) and at first I mounted it up right at the back of the car, with no tailpipe, which is how most people mount them. Then I recently modified the rear section of the exhaust to move the muffler back as close to the rear suspension as possible. This allowed me to have about a 12" tailpipe out the rear of the flowmaster. It made a big difference, the exhaust sounds better and is much more quiet with the tailpipe. I know this may not be an option with some mufflers but if you want to keep things on the quiet side a tailpipe does makes a difference.
