sr rebuild advice on parts?
hi everyone im new here

ok ill start so

im planning on building an SR2(2/3/4)VET and i have afew questions on parts.

so far what i have planned is 20ve head, 16ve oil pump
turbo, undecided, possibly t28
brian crower/jwt stroker kit

so appart from the obvious bits and bobs that go with the above etc what id need to know is what kinda injectors would i need, or other major parts id need for the build?

its going into a primera T4 so fwd style sr. so other questions like would the rwd stroker kits fit the same as the fwd?

thanks guys

My advice just stick with a DET. Sure the VE head gives you a cool factor but honestly the DET's are not slouches when it comes to making power. You'll be making more then enough power with a det where it'll just be pointless for a fwd vehicle. You don't even really need to stroke the motor either. If your going all out like that might as well get a monster turbo. A t28 spools plenty quick with 2.0 displacement.

Not trying to bash your dreams man, I'm just saying somebody can spend way less and make equal power.

aye i hear what your saying and all and agree that its far too much power for fwd. thats why im getting a T4 primera. these are 4wd. ill be fitting a GTIR box to it with upreted internals etc, so no worries there. the car will be for track use mostly anyways

You dont need a stroker kit at all to be honest. If your going to be just running a t28 just run a det and have fun, all that work to run a t28 is pointless in my opinion. look up coheed on here he was a pretty nice setup and you can take some pointers from him

Oh I see. Didn't know a T4 was the 4wd model. That is kinda sweet. Are you getting a P10 or P11? Yeah research Avenirs/Bluebirds. People have made big power with those motors. Plenty of info here and also on sr20forum.com. Only advantage I see to having a VE head is the better breathing. Could allow you to make equal power to a DET head but with less boost. The oil pump would be a nice upgrade though. I'm assuming by track use you mean road courses.

it would defo be a p10, have loved em since i was 7!

regards the turbo, im useless when it comes to em and models. the aim is for about 450hp, anything after that is a bonus!

the main reason i want to do this build is as i said i always loved p10's also there is funk all well modded different cars in ireland, most tubbied cars here are stupid turbo glanzas with their 1.3

Get a 3071r with a nice tube mani and run on a forged bottom with VE head. Will make 450whp on 94 octane. Try to keep it simple. A DET can make power levels like that all day long, but like it was stated, it will need more boost.

I wouldn't stroke it at all unless you really wanna spin tires badly with that 3071r. It really depends on your budget and what YOU wanna do. I think a sr23-sr24VET would be absolutely insane with a 3071r turbo. Rediculous powerband. It would make 450whp easy and hold out to redline. You could go 3076 or 3082 and make the job even easier and make up to 575whp.

money isnt really the issue here, i just wanna really have the satisfaction of building myself a big powerful engine and stuff.

again because i will be importing a awd ill be keeping my current primera so ill have nothing but time to do the build.

i was looking at the brian crower stroker kit and it seems decent. has anyone on here had any experiences with these?

also, ive noticed that BC have very good cams, would it be worth putting on a VE head or just throw in the DE cams instead?

That being the case... Go big. Really big. And have fun!

You could start with a DE head to start, then switch VE in the future. But a stock VE head will flow like a ported DE head. If you want big power then headflow is very important. You can still make over 500whp on a stock DE head without many issues. There is power to be gained from a VE head for sure, but it all depends on budget.

You are rebuilding everything anyway, so a VE used is like 1000 bucks.

yeah the whole engine will be rebuilt. would it be safe to reuse some of the parts in the engine such as the valve springs and if i keep the orig. head the standard valves?

regards the ve head, i could prob get a 16ve head much easier, would this be ok or am i better off getting the 20ve?

thanks
