Tranny blew up.....
I am the Original Ower of my 1993 SE-R. Never drag raced, never abused. On Roebling Road Road Course for two (2) twenty minute runs.
My transmission initially lost 5th gear, at about 50K under Nissan Extended Warranty. $1,500.00 and all I paid was the $25.00 deductable.
My transmission lost 5th gear again at about 156K. I paid an exhorbitant amount to have it rebuilt. This was about six years ago, pre-forum, and I was clueless.
I am now at 174K, and I just lost 1st and 3rd. Second works, reverse works, and I did not get going fast enough to test 4th and 5th. Nor do I give a sh*t if they work at this point.
Mike is going to pull the tranny and crack it apart. He is just curious what broke and if it is both easy and cheap to fix. In this specific case, he is under instructions to discuss with me any fix whatsoever. Normally I would just tell him to "fix it, whatever it is."
If that damn tranny is anything other than "cheap and easy" to fix (not likely from my very limited expertise) it is going bye-bye.
F*ck that cheap-ass, piss-poorly engineered, should-have-been-a-factory recall, gutless, weak-sauce, worthless pile of motherf*cking metal scrap.
Rant over.
I figure tonight I will be searching for what B15/P11 tranny would be best suited for a VE (DE now, VE soon) that will be used as a daily-driver. Including plenty of around town driving, and some long freeway trips. I *think* it is the B15 that has the best gearing for my specific uses.
Please do not encourage me to buy a B13 tranny, nor the B14 tranny with the half-assed Nissan crappy semi-fix. B14 trannies still lose 5th gear. Nissan never addressed the issue properly until the B15 tranny. Period. Further, if my stupid-motherf*cking B13 tranny will not hold up with a DE, I'm sure as hell not going to be using it with 40+ more horses.
