Thread: 1994 cam better than 1999?

I got a used USDM 1999 SR20DE to replace my old USDM 1994 SR20DE piece. Should I swap in my 1994 cams or are they the same?

Intake cams from biggest to smallest

91-93 Sentra SER
94 Sentra SER
95-97 200sx SER
98-99 200SX SER and Sentra SE

All exhaust cams 91-99 are the same.

Ditch the 99 cam, it's worthless. Top end it's too weak!

Get yourself a 91 cam, it will give you about 8 more whp then the 99.

Yes ditch the 98-99! I have the stock cams in my 98 and they blow up in the rpm range.

Wow I didn't know the 98/9 intake cam was even smaller. Makes sense now that my 98 200sx felt weaker than the 96 I used to have.

I don't think it's the cams, moreso the extra emissions crap on the intake manifold and different ecu on the 98-99's. But your 94 cams aren't really any different since the 94's were lowports as well. 91-93 highport intake cam is what you need.

Lowport high port has nothing to do with it. Here are the cam sizes from large to small. You can find this in the FSM and you can mesure them which I have done.

I have changed over 50 sets of cams in SERs and have personally measured them all myself.

The 94 cams is just a hair smaller than the 91-93 cam.
