Thread: ECU Question

I just picked up a spare ecu from someone on the forums here.

Went to install it and it turned over but never fired up.

I have a 93 G20 and from what I remember Calum saying, the B13 and G20 highport OBD1 ecus should be interchangeable.

I have highlighted what I have here as a spare ECU. This is the non-functioning one that I just tried installing. The other one that is in the car works so its not an issue there.



Any ideas?

Do you have a 93 or 93.5 G20? Cali ECus are different apparently but I dunno. Also your new ecu could be a DOA. Have you popped the cover and looked at the guts?

Its a 93. Not 93.5. The car is originally from VA Beach so that matches up with the Federal ECU. The guts looked good when I unscrewed them so I can't say it looks to be a bad ecu from that alone, but I guess you are right, that its possible its DOA.

Anyone else have ideas?

The 91 ECU should work for a 93 MANUAL transmission B13.

But, If yours has an automatic transmission, only the 93 ECU will work. They changed the ECU for auto trannies in 93 and again in 94.
So, 93 auto tranny cars will only work with 93 Auto ECUs and visa-versa..

My car is manual. It appears that the ECU is also manual.
