Thread: throttle body spacer...

I have 1/4" material available, but I also have aluminum bar stock I can work with. Are you looking for just an extension or are you also looking for thermal insulating properties as well?

Here's a question. Are you moving the throttle body over to avoid contact with the valve cover? If so, do you have cruise control or have you deleted that?
If you've deleted cruise control you can modify the throttle body to make it clear the valve cover. I did so here:

But then your loosing the awesomeness of the RR cover and not needing the big oil separator up front.



I don't think that will be enough to space it out. Even with the spacer fitment is still very tight:




No spacer, guess you could shave down the VC or the TB stud it self.

I have no plans to have cruise control on the racecar. So, looking at that other (forum) thread, I am assuming that the shaft the cruise drum is mounted on isn't threadded further down?

Sounds like this would eliminate any need for a spacer, much more elegant. And what I save in $ fabricating or buying a spacer, I can now spend on a tap & die set. Bonus!

Correct, you will have to create your own threads further down on the shaft. It's a pretty simple modification. You only have to cut a small metal post down so it is shorter, thread the main shaft some, and cut it short as well. A hacksaw or rotary cutting tool along with the right die is all you need.
I got my metric tap and die set super cheap at Harbor Freight a long time ago. It was less than $20.

I have a lonesome outlaw throttle body spacer. Found it in a box while cleaning out the garage. @jimbo_se-r

Smack the valve cover with a hammer and dent it so it clears.
