Thread: throttle body spacer...

I checked Greg V's site and didn't find anything for the throttle body, only the intake manifold itself. Like @Vadim did, I'm going with a Roller Rocker SR20, and the prior generation intake manifold so that the sensors etc work, plus the HP gain is a bonus. I need the throttle body spaced out just a bit for clearance from the valve cover, since that design changed between generations.

The idea of using a cutting board isn't actually a bad idea. I was even tempted by the oak version mentioned just before that. LOL That might just be the way I'll go here, cheap but effective. I'd need to smooth out the cutting board surface most likely, they tend to be a bit textured.

I'm wondering though if I need any extra gasket type material on the outer sides of this piece so it seals better? RTV sealant possibly, since the mating surfaces are different from stock?

IIRC, other forum members have used a Lowport valve cover on the RR engine to improve the clearance to the throttle linkage.

@jimbo_se-r I just read not to long ago another thread as to FX vendor(I think it was) saying go to Home page I'm not sure XM had any relations into to regards to outlaw eng. but they do make nice little goodies

Use two OEM gaskets, or make some out of cereal boxes.

I've read the same thing, but doing that gets rid of the extra baffling in the RR valve cover, the baffling helps keep the oil from spraying around from the cams, so I'd really rather have this VC.




I did find an SR RR throttle body flange there, nice looking aluminum piece, but not clear on exactly how thick this piece is. If rolling my own doesn't work, I may look into this one. For what it's worth, this may be the best answer to my original question.




Considering that the cereal box is probably sturdier than the OEM gasket, this sounds like a winner!

They also have the material for the thermal intakes goodies as you can see from the choices... maybe they can make you what your looking for in your tb? just a thought

OK, one more time. The motor itself is Roller Rocker, but the Intake Manifold & Throttle Body are Low Port, not RR, so I need the Low Port version of the spacer.

I can CNC these out of phenolic material if you guys are interested. I would need a sample gasket or the dimensions of the flange holes to begin with.

What thickness are you able to do? I don't have an exact measurement, but from looking at pics I've seen, the spacer would need to be at least 3/8", probably more like 3/4" to fit my application. Any guess on pricing?
