Oil filter housing.!
I have a oil leak coming from my oil filter housing bracket. On the DET the housing has a oil cooler which coolant feed through and circulates from the water pipe and returns back to the water pipe passage. Now im not sure if the its just the o ring seals that are bad or the housing or if it has a hair line crack in it. But for now i justed to know if the usdm DE (2) o rings for the oil filter housing fit the DET oil filter housing??

also should i remove the the oil cooler/oil filter housing with a standard usdm highport sr20? I know he oil cooler is there to look life expand of the bearing but what do you guys think.

i'd keep it if you can. if you get it off there and clean it up and examine it, you should be able to tell pretty readily if there's a crack in it. I bet it's just the seals. I would imagine the USDM seals would work, but i really don't have any frame of reference. I do have a stock highport DE out of my 92 SE-R sitting here that I could pull apart and take pics of, but i'm not sure that would help you much. In any case, take it into napa and they should be able to match an o-ring up for you, they have a million different sizes.

The oil filter housing uses a tube style O ring. I considered it, but I didnt know how well a regular o ring would seal so I just got some from Greg V.

I've never taken one apart, so there's my ignorance at play! Greg is definitely the man on this stuff.

no lol. its just that it seems like once you remove them they wont seal the same so you might get a leak.
