i agree tekkie spending the 300.00 for a stock block configuration (non balanced) would be a smart idea and then it would justify spending the extra cash.

but if the block is fully build and has fully balanced internals, i couldnt see the hurt in the aftermarket non damped pullies....that might just be me tho

Seriously, for the amount of HP the pulley is going to free up, it isn't economically feasible. A stocker will suffice and run the engine safe.

Well the Ati crank pulley will not be the reason your engine breaks, ya, and people have got by with a UR crank pulley, but maybe they had received a better balanced pulley, or maybe there certain setup, was very well balanced, most people that have tried to run higher HP levels with UR type crank pulleys, 300+ have had issues with them, I would rather spend the $400 on the ATI, and not worrier that my crank pulley might break my $5000+ engine rebuild!

Your right, just keep your stock crank pulley, if you don't want to spend the money on the ATI, it is mostly for high HP output.

just me 2cents.

Well its your money, spend it how you want man!!

Personally, I feel better spending $300 on something that's going to potentially make my motor last longer

Your are exactly right!!!!!!!!!! cheers!!

You're 100% correct. It doesn't really free anything up. I'm not interested in "freeing up" hp, though. I'm more worried about balancing out what is un-balanced to begin with, and I think personally that I'd rather spend $300 vs. $xxxx to have the entire rotating assembly balanced/blueprinted. My car won't be a full race build, just a street/strip build. I just want reliablity to increase a tad bit.

Besides, no one can deny that THESE BABIES LOOK SEXY! It's a win win situation. LOL!

People have been running 500+ whp on stock pullies for years now without a hitch. I daily drove (40-50 miles) my car on stock pulley without a problem.

Also very true, Manny.

I'm not denying that, at all. I know our motors are more than capable of producing some serious power on stock items, however I also know that not many people ran 500+ whp configurations on completely stock internals. I've only seen this on rare occasion, and matter-of-factly, I only remember one individual right off the top of my head (God rest his soul)

Anyhow, to each his own

AND GEEZUS a phuckin outgoing round just SCARED THE PISS OUT OF ME! I hate when you don't expect that crap to happen, and it rocks your world

Sorry, /offtopicinmyownthreadwtfbbq

Well people can do whatever the hell they want to do, doesn't matter to me! I will be using the ATI crank pulley on my setup!!

I gave my advise on the ATI pulley, thats all I have to say!

Lance gave me the idea one night at his house about running one and Donald and I have been dealing with everything to get this thing done. The test damper is made and is going to be tested soon and then sent back to look at the damage. I am going to run one because I have over 4k in just my block alone not including my head and other stuff. I will also be running the engine to 9k+.

If you think it is to much money for a pulley then don't buy it. If you have a good condition pulley that is stock, I would just run that if you don't want the ATi. I know there isn't much evidence to back the damper up but in theory it will help the motor last longer and rev smoother.

I am not saying the damper will make everything better but I like a little cushion with my motor, that is why I have a sleeved motor now with 1/2 inch head sutds and GTIR bearings.

If you want one buy one, if not please don't bash there product because it is not proven or to expensive.

Matt, nobody is bashing the product. Just voicing the opinion on whether it is economically feasible or not. Whether the theory is just that... a theory?

Is there any way to get a quantifiable result that would show that this really does something? Or is this product only going to improve the FEEL of something that can't be measured with calibrated instruments? (butt-dyno doesn't count). Is the measuring of the damage from the test pully the experiment to factually determine that it does do something beneficial? If so, please post up the numbers (as well as what they mean) when all is said and done.
