As for VLSD vs. LSD taking more fluid, no idea, out of my element there. My B13 supposedly has a VLSD ("Viscous Liquid Snot Differential", according to Dave Coleman, which is why I remember!)
Ah ha - my Chilton manual says "Sentra" 5 MT'S from 1991 to 1996 (probably limited to USDM in scope, I guess) are one of the three following models, looks like although we know changes were made like the 5-speed fork, etc - capacity as follows:
RN4F31A - 5.9 pts
RS5F21A - 6.2 pts
RS5F32V - 7.8 pts
My '91 B13 took over 7.5 pts for the change yesterday, definitely is supposed to have a VLSD (ah-choo! oh, sore-eee!). I didn't measure exactly since I was just filling to the fill line until it was level with the hole. Sometimes the consumer Chilton and Hayne's manuals are not exact.
So maybe that A=non-LSD and V=LSD is right on target, it makes sense that the larger case (w/the bump) would hold more fluid.
My pic is kind out of focus, and 'xcuse the PS leak, the fitting above the boot has a very slow leak as I found out yesterday. But that's my trans, if I could find the serial number it should match up to a RS5F32V.
Btw thanks as always for all the info, I'd be
so screwed w/o the forum, coming from a first-ever SR20 background
