Honda ECU on an SR20
Thoughts?

I saw a new member on the other board post up that she's using a Honda ECU with her SR20DET.

This really got me interested, as I have friends that can get me the s300 REALLY cheap.

Thoughts?

Did it have Hondata or something else similar?

Thoughts? Uhhh, sure. Anything is possible.

Worth it? Not for me.

What's an s300? Some Honda ECU?

Get an AEM and get it over with if you are going to do this type of stuff

Hondata s300 ECU is pretty much the full blown realtime ECU for Honda B series motors. K100 and Kpro are for K series motors.

SManager Windows based software for parameter & table editing, calibration uploading and datalogging.
Real-time updating of ECU
Built in calibrations for common engine combinations
Built in datalogging to a laptop
On board datalogging memory (2 MB memory, 20-60 minutes datalogging)
Adjustment for different sized injectors, with overall fuel trim.
Configurable for any MAP sensor (to at 5 Bar and above)
TPS based table lookup for ITBs
Engine protection from over boost.
Expanded fuel and ignition tables, both in rpm and load, to 60 lbs boost and 11,000 rpm (these are not the upper limits)
Launch control with anti-lag
Full throttle shift
Three multi purpose outputs for nitrous control or similar
Supports lambda tracing from a wideband o2 (PLX wideband recommended)
PWM output for boost control
Dual tables for high/low octane calibrations etc.
Two analog inputs for wideband, EGTs etc.

Pics are actually from KPro, but you get the idea. ^^^ Individual fuel control is pretty cool

I'm scared of unknowns

I've never played with an AEM. I've played with Hondata though. A lot cheaper than an AEM to boot.

I was just interested in the plausibility. I'm happy with my Calum RT for now

I'm familiar enough with Hondata... It can't re-assign things to different pins of the ECU, correct? I wouldn't think it can.

Either way, I guess it would be new wiring harness time or at least a harness adapter. I see where you're going with this. If it's cheap, it would be a real cheap alternative to AEM or something. Not sure what you have against a Calum RT (although them not available right now is a downer). If you know what you're doing, you could be okay. If this is your first time messing with a wiring harness or tune-able ECU I'd recommend you go with something tried and true.

Reading > you I clearly stated I'm content with my Calum RT...

Yes, you can repin whatever you want. Cheap would be in the $300 ballpark, which is quite a bit less than retail.

if this is the same girl i know, here in utah, it actually works really well, they also have a KA-T thats pushin over 400hp, and there is no need for a MAF, a couple other members on the forum are doin the same thing goin through her.

With the software? You can choose which electrical pins are used for certain things? Crazy...

As for AEM being unknown. You will love it. Trust me.

But it's hard to ignore Hondata for $300. You'll spend a bunch more getting the right stuff to make it work but can easily come in under the price of AEM...
