Connection between breaking 3rd gear, and oil temperature?
I wanted to see if I maybe shed some light on why we break 3rd gear all the time. I'm thinking that it may also have to do with how long you drive before romping on the trans.

The last time I broke my 3rd gear was after the vehicle was cold and I shifted into 3rd gear kind of hard thus destroying 3rd gear. The car had only been drive for a mile so the fluid in the transmission wouldn't have had time to warm up.

This is only one account, but on that note I remember my friend blew his 3rd gear up after driving for less then a mile after the car had sat for a long time.

If you have blown up 3rd gear was it when the vehicle was completely warmed up? Maybe there is a connection? Obviously 3rd gear is weak regardless and you shouldn't be hard on a cold vehicle, but I figured why not ask and find out what other people have experienced.

i have stripped third gear, on a 80degree day with the car completely warm with me and two other guys in the car, i am wondering if guys are stripping these gears from a 3rd gear roll or if they are going 2-3 or what ? i havent had any issues at the track

i have only stripped the gears once, in a few years but broken a couple cases

I have a 6 puck with a street disk. I forgot which clutch my friend had, but the pp was really strong.

No offense, but what are you doing with a 6-puck then?
No wonder you're popping trannies.
