roller rocker valvetrain swap
Driving for a living, i have alot of time on my hands to think. Tonight i was thinking how the v8 guys swap in roller rockers, a roller cam, and i think roller lifters to free up a few hp. i've never seen anyone in our community do that. Why is that? After doing a little checking, it seems the weakest link is the valve springs. Are there not any aftermarket springs available for the rr's? Would it be possible to swap the whole deal into say a an older highport or lowport head? Sorry for all the questions in one post, but any opinions/facts are appreciated.

It would be a great option if the offered aot of HP cams for the RR motor. Since they dont it is not worth the time.

Now if you are still feeling like you have to do this, you will have to do change Valves too from the RR head. Wverything must be changed.

thanks adreas. i suppose a s4 cam would give better hp than the roller set up and a s3r cam in a turbo engine?

IIRC one reason the roller setup is superior because it can offer a greater duration. At least in V8 cars. But dre is right there are not many options for a performance cam with the sr20 RR motors.
