We are doing the same thing on my friends chrysler conquest. If anyone knows about the conquests its the same ordeal, the engines dont last no matter how well you build them, so we decided the best hp per dollar with reliability would be the sr20det. I will get some pics up soon for you guys, it should be done this summer sometime.

I like the 13b engines but those like to blow up quite often as well, i think the best option if you want to stay with a wankel is a 3 rotor or 4 rotor if you are rich.

SR20DET in a Conquest? Should have swapped in the turbo motor from a Starion.
Noob.

I still dont think an sr20 would be fun in a conquest/starion, well it would, just not as fun as other choices. We contemplated that with my buddy's starion, but I think we have decided that a SB would be cheaper, make more power, be more reliable than an sr20.

Yeah but why put a foreign engine in a domestic car. LOL

We contimplated a few engines but we decided on the sr20. It leaves a decent amount of room in the bay vs a v8 or an inline 6. Also the engine can be placed pretty far back for a bit better weight dist. He is going to use the car for roadracing and auto-x.
There is a guy that has one aroud here with a 2jz in it, but his is more of a drag only car. We also didnt want to make the car any heavier than it was.

If i blew the engine on my rx8 i would consider putting an sr20 in as well. Wankels are great when they run, but they seem to be more of a headache than they are worth.

Its a joke, the starion and the conquest are the same car, it had the same engine and turbo set up from the factory as the starion. Its just like how the talon and eclipse are the same car. The starions and conquests are even closer, the only real differences are the badging. The cars have a crappy throttle body injection set up which doesnt work the greatest, it only has 2 fuel injectors. The engines are outdated 8 valve single overhead cam 2.6 liter. The heads crack beacuse of the emissions swirl valves or jet valves as some call them. The engines cant take much more than the factory boost without some serious fuel system upgrades, and bottom end upgrades. To put a proper multiport 4 injector manifold on would cost more than we spent on the sr20det engine trans and wiring harness.

I have never personally driven an rx8 but top gear really liked it when they tested it.

Yep, When I drove one I could not believe how horribly the car handled.
