EGR Help
i picked up a cheap ebay header, and i got it most installed except i cannot for the life of me get the egr tube in, i loosened off both sides and it looks like im about an inch short, then i thread in the header side 3 turns, i cant even get the other side to fit, if i thread in the other side 3 turns, the angle isnt correct

i could plug up the egr port on the header but im not sure if i should plug it up and crimp off the line of if i should block it off,

anyways questions, will i set a check engine light if i were to just crimp the tube and plug up the line, i have emissions so i cant have the check engine light on

1) I can't visualize what your problem is here

2) If you have emissions and choose to block off the tube, make sure it's well hidden or that they don't do visual checks. As far as I know, on B13's EGR will not cause a check engine light. I thought it did on B14's but I might be wrong. I also seem to remember there a way around having the light?

3) If they don't do visual checks, and you plan to plug the tube, then I would definitely just remove all of the EGR as it's useless without the mani tubes and will only serve to pose potential future problems.

my issue is i cant thread one portion of the egr tube without having an issue with the other side, if i thread in the header side 2-3 turns, the valve side looks about an inch away from the valve and wont thread on, if i thread in the valve side 2-3 turns, the angle for the header side isnt right,

You need to unbolt the the nut under the intake mani 1st. Then bolt up the tube to the header. This will give you the length to bolt it back up under the mani. Trust me this works. Took me like 3 hours to figure this out.

Also depending on what year car it is with emissions. I know that mine has a CEL because I took off my EGR. Keep your EGR.

for now you can leave the plug in your header and then take off the line between the EGR and BPT. Plug both those nipples, really only need to plug one but I can't remember which one. This will disable your EGR without having to crimp, remove, or block anything. You will get a code if OBDII but a resistor will fix that. You will not get one if OBDI.

Another option is to remove the egr pipe and cut it into pieces join the two with a high temp hose and clamps. I've seen this work on a 240 before. I don't know how long the hose will last.

well my other plan is to cut it then hit up home depot and buy some plumbing solder and lengthen it

i've tried bolting up the header side first but theres about an inch gap between the end of the tube and the egr valve

How about bolting on the EGR tube without bolting on the header? Wrestle the header onto the block with the EGR tube attached and tighten down the header. Done?

This is what I was talking about doing. I would imagine the hose wouldn't last very long though. How hot does EGR gasses get? I bet there is some high temp hose available out there.
