Temp guage questions
I have a VDO temp guage that seemed to be working great while my motor and gauges were in another(donor)car.
In the old car,the VDO read like 180-210,with the factory guage not even 1/4 way up.If I let the car sit and idle for a long time,the VDO would read 220 when the fans kicked on,but the factory finally shows almost halfway.
So if I had no aftermarket gauge in the old car ,I would be running hot when the oem guage showed normal.Obviously,if the guage was to ever go over half it would be too late.
Well now I moved the engine and gauge to a different car and the oem shows normal,while the VDO shows real low,like 160 if that normally.When I let the car sit and run to kick the fans on,the oem stays near half(like it should) and the vdo gets to 185 at most...WTF
I cleaned the contact on the sensor in the water neck,but otherwise nothing has changed during the swap.
