Cleaning Throttle Body
Well I'm about to clean my TB out but I just want to know if this is the right
way to do it.
1. Unhook hose to intake
2. Spray TB cleaner into TB and let soak
3. Scrub with a tooth brush
4. Re-attach hose coming from intake
5. Start up car.

I just wanted to know if this was the right procedure to cleaning my TB on
my 98' SE-R. Thanks

yea that is right. just make sure you dont spray anything into the air intake manifold. what are you using to clean the throttle body?

Well I'm going to use a tooth brush and the Valvoline Carb/TB cleaner. I'm cleaning my TB
with it still on the car. Is it still okay to clean it the way I'm going to clean it?
And Since I'm going to disconnect the hose leading to my Pop Charger, can
I spray the cleaner into the entire throttle body? THanks

You can actually get it cleaner, plus clean part of the intake by taking the tb off. You can soak the intake with cleaner and a rag, then wipe it out. A little bit more work, but sometimes, to do it right.... take the extra time.

So it's better for me to just spray the actual TB than to spray it in all the way even into the intake? Just want to make sure I don't wanna mess anything up. Thanks.

Make sure you definately disconnect the IACV hose under the T/B and maybe leave attached to the T/B and reverse flush/spray it. (It is a little rubber hose about 1/4" thick, and has a blocked off hose next to it) To clear any carbon blockage out of it. Suck T/B cleaner into it and you will definately have a high idle issue. Been there done that!

i agree that is your best bet. just take off the throttle body and clean it out. its just those 4 allen bolts, coolant lines on the sides and disconnect the tps connector and vacuum line and youre done. then to clean the intake spray a lil bit of the tb cleaner and then scrub it with one of those toilet bowl scrubbers they fit perfectly in hole for the intake. make sure that the intake is as dry as possible when youre done.

Could I just spray the toothbrush with the cleaner and just scrub and clean it that way?
Because I'm really trying not to take out the throttle body. Thanks.

Just some good quick info.... If you use the red spray line... The one that comes with the can that attaches to the nozzle... HOLD ON TO IT!

Don't want it go shooting down into your mani.
