Thread: 1.6 clutch cable

so everyone i knew said to try this, it would give me more adjustment. i must be doing something wrong, because im 1/8th inch too short, i cant even hook it up to the shift fork! i hooked to the pedal first, might have been the wrong thing to do, but now i cant get the damn thing unhooked! (Hands are too big to move around in that tiny space) is there an adjustment at the pedal? because i just dont see how this can work, its too short at the moment. any help would be great, i hate not being able to drive my car due to something stupid like this!

i installed a b13 1.6 cable on my b13 se-r w/ no probs. is this the exact thing you are trying to do?

Use a crowbar as leverage between the bellhousing and the fork arm. That's what I had to do at first.

Tekkie, is that how you did on your b14? If that's all that you have to do to get it to work, then I'll just do it that way instead of cutting down the cable bracket like I was planning.

so i guess it just streches after that? i was thinking MAYBE i have some slop in my motor mounts, and that could be doing it. i know the old cable was stretched to hell, its a nx2000, but its all the same. b13 chassis, with a 1.6 cable. alright, ill try to force it in.i guess onece its on it will be ok, i just cant slip it over the fork. ill give it a try, just wanted to make sure i wasnt forcing it too much.

Be careful with using a prypar on the bellhousing. I saw a guy put a nice hole in a Camry's tranny doing that, when I worked at Toyota.

All cables will stretch a little.

By using the crowbar, I obviously meant using it as leverage to "engage the clutch", when really all you're doing is pulling the slack out of the clutch arm. I don't use any spacers, btw.

B14 with P11 tranny.

And that's gonna be ok even though I have about an inch to go to get my cable onto my clutch arm? I'm using the b14 1.6L clutch cable with a b13 LSD tranny. It seems to me though that an inch is too much to stretch that bish out...
