Engine Rebuild crank wont rotate
Okay I got my brand new bearings from gregv and all that happy horse crap. I got them all in today all done correctly and when I tourqe everything down to 80ftlbs(because I have arp studs) the crank just wont turn. Everything is good when I start tourquing them down it gets harder and harder to turn until it doesn't budge. Idk whats up and its pissing me off. Any help would be nice.

What assembly lube did you use?

With the ARP studs you will need to line hone the main caps. Take your block to a machine shop and have them do it for you. Using the ARP studs will distort the caps/block slightly and cause the bearings to rub the crank. After the line hone the engine will rotate like butter.

Coheed I'm pretty damn sure you just made my god damn day. I have to get some plastigauge but I used brand new oem bearings with the right grades. Machine shop here I come tmrw. I used moly lube on everything and I mean I loaded it on there haha.

And i hope you put the caps back in the right place cuz they are cut to each place on the block, you cant through the number 1 onto any other spot than the number 1 spot, you might want to recheck that first before doing anything drastic, but its possible that the arp's could do that but its more unlikely, yours is doing just like when i did my buddies 4ag build and he handed me the main caps from the other block to use on the new one by mistake and not knowing, i trusted him to know that and he didnt. So yeah after that heartache we used the correct caps in the right spots and i fully rebuilt that motor and it turned over like butter

Please make sure you are using caps in the right place and facing the right way. number 1 at the front of the block and the top of the number points towards the front of the motor as well.

Yeah the main caps are all in order they can only go one way when putting them back in. Tekkie on here who I trust with these motors was over and we had the same problem with the ACL's so my guess is that it wasn't the acls it was the main caps needing to be honed. I'm going right now to drop the block off and I hope they get it to work.

No the ARP's have a higher torque value and cause the caps to distort.. Seems to be standard procedure but Im kinda shocked that these issues werent addressed by ARP in anyway??? Speaks loads about RnD...
