Crossmember bolts stripped/damaged
Hey guys,
I was about to put my crossmember on the car when I took a good look at the bolts. A couple are in bad shape at the bottom of the threads where that block/land is at. After noticing this, I looked at the chassis side, and a couple of them are in bad shape too, looking like the threads are kinda damaged.
So, my question is this: If I can't get them retapped and cleaned up with the same size bolt, is it ok if I retap just a little larger and use a standard bolt? Is that land essential to the design? Has anyone else run into this?
