Bottom line - You don't need it.
You need to check mechanical pieces of the valvetrain for issues. Don't try and cover it up with ATF or anything else that will "unstick" it.
Things to look at: Timing chain tensioner, chain guide, HLA's, shims, rocker arms.
Easiest way to check HLA's and rocker arms, is just pull the valve cover and see if you can move the rocker arms easily. Then grab something like a flat tip screwdriver and see if you can push down on the HLA at all. If it compresses, you need to pull it to bleed it, or replace it all together.
